Ex-Amazon senior manager suggested that e-commerce giant buy H-E-B

Amazon considered buying H-E-B instead of Austin, Texas-based Whole Foods Market, according to an article posted today on the website of the San Antonio Express-News.

Brittain Ladd, a former senior manager of strategy and expansion at Amazon, said that he recommended buying H-E-B in a 2015 internal memo because of the San Antonio-based chain’s strong regional footprint in Texas and Mexico and tremendous customer loyalty, the article reported. Ladd, now a global strategy and supply chain consultant for the grocery industry, said he also recommended Whole Foods, which Amazon is buying in a deal valued at $13.7 billion.
