IGA to celebrate top retailers

The Independent Grocers Alliance's (IGA) Awards of Excellence Brunch to be held on Feb. 12 in Las Vegas will celebrate its top retailers from around the world, including eight IGA USA Hometown Proud Retailers that are in the running for the IGA USA International Retailer of the Year.

Last fall, IGA USA Licensed Distribution Companies (LDCs) were asked to submit one Five Star retailer as a nominee for the IGA USA International Retailer of the year. Out of that pool, eight retailers were selected as finalists and will be recognized at the awards brunch. During the brunch, one of the finalists will be named the retailer of the year and honored along with the international retailers of the year.

“Honoring the achievements of our IGA independent retailers gives us the opportunity to learn from the best of the best, and celebrate the success of our retailers and our brand,” said Mark Batenic, IGA chairman & CEO.  “The eight retailers in the running for IGA USA International Retailer of the Year are some of the most progressive retailing leaders within IGA and the industry as a whole.”

Chicago-based IGA sells its private brand products to retailers through 13 licensed distribution centers.
